Default ACO RELATED JOBS

After many years of working as an ACO, what good paying jobs are available with this type of experience? Not interested in being a dog walker or sales associate at Petsmart.

Humane educator? Shelter manager? Adoption coordinator? Wildlife removal? Game warden? "Good paying" is relevant (I make under $30K in FL, so $36K would be awesome. My lawyer friend in CA would starve to death if she made under $50K.)

Self employment is an option. I know the guys we contract with charge $200 a raccoon. I also know of people who've bought their own Pooper Scooper franchise and make decent money. If you want to open a pet sitting/dog walking/animal boarding there are decent books online that give you step-by-step guidance, right down to contract templates.

What's your goal? Are you trying to get out of animal control work completely? I'm a CSO for a PD and do very little ACO work compared to the rest of my duties. Lots of jobs like that if your willing to make a move, etc...

After 22 yrs as an ACO, I relocated to another State and would like to get back into animal control. Of course, job openings are only available when somebody gets promoted, retires or extra funding adds positions. I really can't go to a county or city and say here is what I bring to the table. So I was thinking of another animal related field to use my experience. I've also looked at community service officers too but enjoy working with animals. I have a passion for public speaking and public education.

I only ask because I have noticed several ACO jobs in and around the "west coast" that have been posted.. Just wondered if you were trying to get back in or simply a change of pace but in the "field" somehow.

I'm aware of the ACO postings on the West Coast and applied to them. The answer to your question is yes to both. Change of pace in the animal field would be good too. Most of the fields I've seen (dog walker etc..) pay well below $17/hr.
