We also recieve all our calls thru central dispatch. We have virtually no problems and its nice to know that all the other LEO's in your AO heard where you checked out incase you need them....

In my opinion - thats how it should be when feasable.

We receive most of our calls via phone into our office.

After hours, weekends and holidays, emergency calls (and sometimes non-emergency calls) come to the on-call ACO via police/fire dispatch. We LOVE our dispatchers, although the newbies tend to call us about non-emergency items, but after a few weeks, they learn when to call and when to refer the caller back to our office number (where they can leave a voice mail after hours.)

I get the majority of my calls via our PD dispatch. They are pretty good about getting all the info I need. It then gets sent to my MDT and I review it on the way. On a side note, I just got the computer in the truck and itís the greatest thing ever. I can check history, records, etc. in the field. Very handy to know what Iím getting into before I get there.

Dispatchers????? You mean my voice mail, cell phone, and Pager? LOL!
Nope, no dispatchers unless someone calls 911 and the State Police call my cellphone to forward the information (which they do not care about).
There's been talk about us getting radio's and I laughed. I asked who I would talking to on the other end and was told Highway and the Fire/Ambulance Dispatchers. GREAT!!! I could then either have Fire Dispatch contact State Police or contiue to use my cell phone, !! One step forward, two steps back!!

Our calls work exactly the same way, but the ACO on call is me.

My agency is PD dispatchers. The agency I'm trying to get into uses level II ACOs as dispatchers. I've noticed that some of them can get cranky.

Mon-Fri 8am-4pm calls are dispatched through our AC office ... or by PD, if someone calls 911. After hours (4pm-8am) and on weekends we carry a cell phone that is linked to the office phone, if someone calls the office number it is forwarded to the cell so that we cal get the call where ever we are... or, again, by PD, if someone calls 911, and the PD dispatch either tries us on the radio or by cell...
