Default Argentine mastiff bites news reporter on air

I have a problem with the owner being cited for leash law violation when the news anchor stuck her face in the dogs face. The owner had a hold of the dog as it sat beside him. Had she not put her face that close to the dogs face she wouldn't have gotten bit. Bet she won't do that again.

Yup. The dog was under control....the anchor wasn't.

If they really wanted to cite the guy for leash law they should have done it the day before, at the original incident, since the dog was off leash and chased a coyote out of the ice, which was the reason he was at the studio in the first place. Here you've got a dog that was stressed major the day before (falling through the ice and being rescued) and now you bring him into a studio with lots of strangers, bright lights, weird equipment and then the anchor sticks her face in his face, what do you think is going to happen.

On a side note, if I was a dog I would make it policy to bite any member of the media I came in contact with.

I watched the video, the dog was stressed and trying to be good, giving clueless humans lots of signals he was not a happy camper. I agree, stupid to cite for no leash when he was inside a studio and had hold of the collar...but maybe the cite was for the ice incident. With the media you never get the whole story.

With the information provided, I wouldn't charge the dog owner anything for the incident at the TV station.

And yes the reporter was stupid.

This was our local morning news. That dog really had no business being there after the ice rescue the evening before, talk about stressed out. He gave Kyle Dyer plenty of warning that he did not appreciate her in his face, he had been growling prior to the bite and barred his teeth right before. She insisted on being right in "Max's" face and got bit. I guess she had to have some reconstructive surgery on her lip. The leash law charge is uncalled for, as the owner had the dog restrained by the collar, and the dog was within an enclosed area. They did announce the dog was current on his vacc. so that should be dropped as well. The dog should have never been put in that situation.

She got what she deserved. He gave every indication he was stressed and scared and she continued and stuck her face in his. Sadly, this will go in the books as a bite stat. Should go in a book called stupid human stats.
