mine are amber. half the time they don't work, though, so I mainly use my hazards when I'm pulled off the road or driving really slow, looking for an animal (damn my old Chevy S-10!!)

We have full size amber lightbars and rear facing arrowsticks, however, if I have to stop in the street, and I have all my lights activated, most people just pull up behind me and stop, even on two lane roads. The hazard lights are pretty much universially known and more people seem to know what to do when a vehicle has those on as opposed to having all the other lights on. That being said, my hazard lights and arrowstick are the most used item, I rarely, and I mean rarely, use my overhead rotators.

Red and blues. The newer trucks have LED's.

As I recall, our state law prohibits red lights except on emergency vehicles (police and fire).

I have opted for no light bar because the top of a deerskin unit is 1/8” steel, and I can climb my fat self on top of the truck without it even flexing. A light bar would be in the way. I use it as a scaffold for getting things out of trees, putting up misting hoses for outdoor events or hanging banners on the front of the building.

Do you like the deerskin stainless steal trucks? I find that with and extended cab and the extra storage unit on the back that they are way too long and too heavy... Feels like driving a bus. I always try to drive the ugliest truck we have. The single cab "high boy". Sure it says "dog catcher" all over it when you show up in a truck with two levels of puppy storage but they are fast and short allowing me to flip around really quick if needed while chasing a dog. The A/C is ice cold and the radio works great meeting all my needs in one truck. The other ACO's like the newer trucks so there really is no problem with me getting "my" truck. But by this time next year there will not be anymore of the "high boys". We are slowly retiring them all. I better get used to the buses....

Cheers, Scooterchic

The only problem I have with the Deerskin is that it is really wide, and you almost need mirror extensions to see around it.

I have had a couple of Shorline fiberglass carriers in the past, and the fiberglass had given way on both of them, causing the doors to sag, of the bottoms of the compartments to cave in.

It is mounted on a 98 D2500 standard cab, and the whole thing weighs 8600 pounds. I have the step bumper on it, and no, it won’t fit in the average parking space.

Here we use swab units and we run red and white on the light bar and have the big strobes on the back of the unit along with regular amber hazzards...
