In partnership with Pet-Abuse.Com, the Virginia Animal Control Association is pleased to announce the re-launch of ACOFunStop.com as the premiere site for animal care and control professionals from across the world to gather and share information on one of the most under-appreciated professions. With areas for Training, Animal Capture Methods, Legal Questions, and just plain FUN, this site will continue to be a major benefit for those in the Humane Law Enforcement community.
Featured in the March-April 2000 issue of Animal Sheltering Magazine, founder Sheila Irving said, "I wanted to provide an entertaining venue not only for myself, but for other officers to share their pride in the profession and to share experiences." That dream continues as a reality today through the support and vision of the Virginia Animal Control Association and Pet-Abuse.com founder Alison Gianotto. "This has been a great opportunity for our state association to step up and provide this service to animal control officers everywhere! Alison has helped us more than words can express!" said VACA President Mark Kumpf.
ACOFunStop.Com: A Little History
A short animal control t-shirt venture that began in 1995 evolved over the years into a communication portal for animal care and control professionals nationwide; ACO Fun Stop.
A few t-shirts advertised on an average website prompted requests for pictures, patches, and local job advertisements. The bulletin board became the focus of visitors, with members from United States and abroad. they range from street officers to Companies involved in animal management to our friends at HSUS and many many more. The ACO Fun Stop website began to get noticed, it has been highlighted in animal care magazines and mentioned in editorials. Sheila Irving decided around 2001 to discontinue the t-shirts and novelties as the website had taken on a purpose of its own; one to serve rather than be served.
